#The place has changed from years ago, because now it shares a space with #Holy Cow and the place is a lot cleaner looking. I used to come all the time when it was more dumpy, but have been avoiding this place since the renovations. But came to pick up my #MealPal and there's nothing to worry about. The food is still good. I was worried the food would be different.
The #Mixed Barbecue Meats Platter I got this time was nice and spicy. -

Popped in randomly today. Had some great naan, chicken and chick peas. I love that kick of spice.... Also great service!

I read a review about their chicken tikka masala and had to give it a go. Definitely not a disappointment. Solid Indian food at bargain prices. Seating is sparse and decor isn't anything to write home about but who cares when you can eat a full plate lunch in NYC for under $10!

The price is right and the flavor is rocking. Nihari- a slow cooked meat shank stew with marrow and ghee. Rich with meaty warmth and a spice kick. Paired with Qabli Palau- long grained basmati rice with raisins, carrots and lamb (a bit dry and devoid of julienned carrots) and naan, this was more than a bit filling especially for lunch. But if too full is all one can complain about, then all is good.

For many years I didn't try Lasani because although I pretend to be adventurous I'm not. Even without Yelp pre-approval of a restaurant, I like to at least look in the window and the location up a flight of stairs made browsing seem undesirable. Another factor was that most of my trips to this area took place after dinner at other South Asian spots, often racing to catch the 12:10AM PATH train.
I'm glad I checked it out. The 2-meat combo is a great idea for the indecisive. I didn't get the exact names of the meat entrees but one was a great spicy chicken dish. The goat and mixed vegetables were good too.
